BTWrites is a small collection of stories and essays written by me, Brian Tanner. An
unpublished writer, I write for fun, for the challenge of it and because it plunges my brain
deep into thought and it allows my imagination to run without boundaries.
Imagine this quandry: I needed Armaan, one of my characters, to get across the ocean when
there were no flights and no sailings. What did he do? He was a genius, after all. So, he
took ownership of a jet and taught himself to fly. Where else can this happen in a couple of
chapters?
As an amateur writer, I'm not bound by a need for 150,000 words or by an editor. I like to
jump right to the meat of the story. My stories, I think, are unique, adventurous, quick to
the point, and, in some cases, poignant.
Hopefully they make you think, chuckle, or grimace. Feel free to read one, a few, all, or
none. You can find them by clicking on the tabs above.
In the stories, you will find my protagonists, such as the brilliant scientist, Grace
Thompson; Gabriel Tremblay, the curator at The Louvre; Sherrif Chuck Dover, who watches over
Mrs. Goldsmith; Gretchen, the young girl who won't be outdone by an evil Princess; Bartender
Garth Roberts who tends bar in The Yukon during the Gold Rush; and Tom, who is on the down
and out only to meet his mysterious new friend.
You will find heroes like the great Dr. Armaan Shinh; Lucy Bouchard, 16th century art
specialist; Zimmy, the brilliant musician stowing away on the train; and Frans Merkel, the
billionaire art collector.
